Water Day

One of my favorite things about Allie's preschool is all of the fun activites that they do for the whole school. In my opinion, there has to be a good balance between learning and fun and I think Allie's preschool has that balance mastered. On her second to last day of school, they set up a water day for all of the kids. They all got to come to school in their bathing suits and do all kinds of water activities. Allie had a blast! Allie's class
Climing up the slide
Going Doooooowwwwwnnnnn
All the girls were covering up the holes that the water sprayed out of...
And then they would all let go and giggle
Bathing beauties
Eating popscicles

Family

Last weekend we got the wonderful opportunity to spend the weekend with Matt's grandpa who was in town from Michigan. We haven't seen him in several years and he hadn't met the girls yet so it was so nice to be able to get together and catch up. We got to spend a lot of time with him and Matt's parents and brothers, it was just wonderful.
Four generations...
We love you Grandpa Blackjack!!!

Sienna's Dedication

Yes they are! Last Sunday was a special day for us not only because it was Mother's Day, but also because we had the opportunity to dedicate Sienna at our church. We totally believe that Sienna was specifically given to us by God and what better way to show our thankfulness for that than to stand before our church and promise to raise her in a loving home that believes in and praises God. I still can't believe that God chose me to be the mother of not one, but two beautiful little girls. Even still to this day I look at their sweet faces in awe that I have the privelege to raise them.

Slip N Slide

If you are around my age (ahem, 30 :/ ) the following is a total throw-back to your childhood. Matt took the girls to Target last weekend to pick out a new water toy to play with at his parent's house. And what did he get??? A slip and slide! I'm so excited that they still exist because I totally remember spending so many summer days with the kids in my neighborhood playing on a slip n slide while growing up. The girls are a wee bit too young to really get the concept of it and actually do it correctly but leave it up to my husband to figure out a way to get them to do it 'properly'. I tried to upload a video and it won't work, but I think you can get the jist of it from these pictures. I present to you...Allie and Sienna bowling... Allie Bowling

Keeping Watermelon Fresh

This may be a trick known to everyone around, but just in case there is someone out there who doesn't know about this genius idea, I must share. This is one of the many (many, many, many....) amazing things that my mom has taught me. My family LOVES watermelon. We get those small watermelons that come in a two-pack from Costco and can literally eat one of them in one day. But if we store some in our refrigerator, I hate it when watermelon gets soggy, slimy and smushy (like my adjectives?) So all you have to do is make thick slices of the watermelon, cut off the rind, place the rind in the bottom of your tupperware, and then put your watermelon pieces on top. All the juices will still go down into the bottom of your tupperware, but instead of your watermelon sitting in those juices getting all soggy, slimy and smushy, the rind protects it and keeps it fresh. You're welcome!
